Ideally, you will be working also with a licensed counselor and, perhaps, try a 12-step group like Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous.
But regardless, take the first step today. You have absolutely nothing to feel ashamed about with me. I am truly completely non-judgmental. And absolute confidentiality is assured.
Dear John,
This is very difficult topic of discussion for me. You were very understandable and I did not feel judged, which I truly appreciate. This behavior is ugly and disgraceful. I felt safe discussing this with you and you understood where I was coming from. You have given me HOPE that it can battle this condition and overcome it. I want to have complete control of my own destiny. This addiction has side tracked for me, but I know I have the strength to improve.
I did notice a
difference last night. When I got home I was truly looking
forward to being with my family. Unlike other days, I WANTED to
hug my wife hello. I was really happy to be home. When I went to
bed, I was in the moment with my wife. I just wanted to hold
her. The thought of sex was not present. I was happy and
completely satisfied to be next to her.
This morning, my wife left to get her hair done. Normally, I
would use the time to 'act out', but I just haven't had the
need. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Ed R.
